Russian gas prices not to grow for Armenian customers in 2019, Pashinyan reiterates
The tariffs of Russian natural gas will not increase for Armenian customers in 2019, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reiterated at a parliament session on Wednesday.
His comments came in response to the question of Yelk opposition faction MP Arman Babajanyan whether the failure in talks to find possible ways to cut down the gas costs may lead to an accumulation of internal debt.
“I have very clearly stated that the gas prices will not grow. The state doesn’t buy gas, it is Gazprom Armenia that buys it. It is a different matter as to at what price it is buying it. The state deals with consumers, and we have said that the gas tariffs will not grow this year. Our talks refer to the protection of our interests,” Pashinyan said.
The PM reiterated the topic needs to be discussed on the platform of Armenian-Russian relations and within the EAEU.
