Bread, flour production significantly drops in Armenia
Bread production volumes have significantly reduced in Armenia in the past year, according to the latest figures released by the Statistical Committee.
Armenia produced 264.7 thousand tons of bread in2018, down by 2.4 percent from the same period of 2017, when the production stood at 271.3 tons.
2018 also saw a decline in flour production. As the statistical data show, the production volumes of flour in 2018 dropped by 20.4 percent to compare with results of 2017.
To remind, earlier economist Vahagn Khachatryan told Panorama.am the one reasonable explanation for the decline of production volumes is the decline of the population.
“The more population number decreases the more consumption and production volumes drop,” the economist said.
