Pashinyan calls for march to honor victims of 2008 post-election unrest
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan urged people to hold a “powerful” march on March 1 that marks the 11th anniversary of the deadly 2008 post-election events in Yerevan which left ten people, including two police officers, dead.
“As a result of discussions we decided to mark that day with a powerful march from the Liberty Square to Myasnikyan Statue. The march will be dedicated to the victory of Armenian citizens, directed against violence, vote rigging, corruption, illegalities and persecutions,” Pashinyan said in a Facebook live video.
He said that on that day they will pay tribute to the victims of the 2008 1-2 March events and all victims of political violence.
The match will kick off at 6:30pm. The PM is also expected to address the nation on March 1.
