French tourist dies in avalanche in Armenia’s Aghveran
One French tourist died after being caught in an avalanche while climbing a mountain in Aghveran mountain resort town of Armenia’s Kotayk region.
As the ministry of emergency situations reports, the tragic incident occurred on Friday morning, February 22 under unknown circumstances. The mountain rescuers managed to reach the area only at around 15:40 due to lack of routes. The helicopter of the defense ministry was sent to the scene.
Four other tourists who managed to escape the avalanche, where accompanied by the rescuers to their hotel. All members of the group were French citizens.
The ministry said further said further details of the incident to be communicated soon.
