EU ambassador to Armenia: No specific date for start of visa liberalization talks
The main attributes for lunching visa liberalization talks with the European Union have not changed, Ambassador Piotr Świtalski, Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, told a news conference at Public Journalism Club on Tuesday.
According to the EU envoy, the process has two sides. “Starting a visa liberalization dialogue is a political decision and the final say belongs to the member states. In addition, a practical side exists where there is a need for clarification of issues related to the facilitation of the visa regime, contacts between the people, I mean, how the visits of Armenians to the EU states are being carried out,” he said.
The ambassador said Armenia is informed about some EU members’ concerns, stressing the Armenian partners realize those concerns should be addressed.
Piotr Świtalski noted he cannot unveil specific timeframes for starting the visa liberalization talks.
“The visa liberalization dialogue is possible if there are guarantees and mechanisms on ensuring well-managed and secure flows. Let’s be optimistic that these conditions will be satisfied,” he added.
