Iranian Foreign Ministry: Karabakh conflict should not affect Tehran-Baku-Yerevan ties
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Sunday that Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should be resolved based on dialogue and international principles as it is very important for Iran to expand its relations with Armenia and Azerbaijan, IRNA reported.
Referring to the recent visit of Armenian prime minister to Tehran, Qassemi said as stated for several times Tehran's stand with regard to all its neighbors is ‘crystal clear, transparent and definite’ as neighbors are among Iran's first priority in the country's foreign policy.
Tehran is determined to broaden ‘very consolidated relations with its neighbors based on mutual respect and non-interference in each other's affairs,’ he added.
Qassemi reiterated Tehran’s readiness to spare no effort to help resolve the conflict.
“It is important for the Islamic Republic of Iran that its relations with Armenia and Azerbaijan are not affected by the Karabakh conflict; so, Iran will continue to pursue its fundamental and logical policy on this issue, and we strongly hope that this conflict is peacefully settled as soon as possible on the back of peaceful efforts by authorities of these two countries using dialogue and negotiations and all diplomatic tools and channels,” Iran Front Page quoted him as saying.
