Armenian parliament speaker promises full agenda as regular session kicks off
A regular four-day session of the Armenian National Assembly kicked off on Tuesday morning, with three issues on the agenda – the activity of Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission during the December 9 snap elections, as well as amendments to the laws on escape of mandatory military service and education.
Opening the session, Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan reacted to some media reports suggesting the agenda of the session is not full, which, according to him, has objective reasons.
“First, previously the parliamentary elections were held in May and before reaching this phase the parliament had three months which saw pileup of issues. In this case, we have started the works a month after the elections, which was naturally not a long time,” he said.
The speaker noted that there are many bills which are in different stages of discussions, assuring the parliament’s agenda will be full soon.
