Armenian CEC chief hails December elections as ‘free, fair, democratic and transparent’
The Armenian National Assembly resumed Wednesday debates on the activity of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) during the December 9 snap parliamentary elections.
Before CEC Chairman Tigran Mukuchyan addressed the parliament, Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan took the floor to stress the electoral processes need to be improved in Armenia, inviting all the political forces to join efforts to embark on an electoral reform process.
In his speech, Mukuchyan cited both the shortcomings and achievements of the elections voiced by the MPs at Tuesday’s sitting, as well as their proposals aimed at the improvement of electoral processes in the country.
“We can state that Armenia has held elections which can be fully called free, fair, democratic and transparent,” he stressed.
He also thanked the MPs for their opinions and proposals.
