Armenia reports second imported measles case
The second case of imported measles was detected in Armenia on 6 March after a laboratory test confirmed the disease in a person who arrived in Armenia from Belgium via Georgia on February 20, the Health Ministry said on Thursday.
The ministry says the person infected with measles began experiencing fever from February 25, with rash appearing on the body three days later, which was misdiagnosed as medication allergy at first. The patient was tested positive for measles on March 6.
Armenia saw the first imported measles case on 24 February when an infected Ukrainian passenger arrived in Yerevan from Kiev via Flight PS611. The Health Ministry says both patients had contacts with numerous people and identifying them is practically impossible.
The ministry urges people not having been vaccinated against measles to do so as a preventive measure.
