Georgian president pays tribute to Armenian Genocide victims in Yerevan
Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili, who arrived in Armenia earlier on Wednesday on a two-day official visit, visited Tsitsernakaberd Memorial in Yerevan to pay homage to the Armenian Genocide victims.
Accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan and Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan, the Georgian leader laid flowers at the Eternal Flame.
The Georgian delegation next toured the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute to learn more about the Armenian Genocide and observe the exhibits. She also left a note in the Book of Honorary Guests, reading, “We extend our sincere condolences over the tragedy. This pain is close to our heart and we pay respects to the victims’ memory.”
Also, President Zurabishvili planted a fir tree at the Memory Alley.
