Dismantling of cafes near Yerevan Opera House resumes
The Yerevan Municipality resumed on Friday morning the dismantling of several cafes located in the vicinity of the Opera House in downtown Yerevan as part of a program to restore the green zone around the building.
Unlike the previous days, the owners and employees of the cafes have staged no protests against the dismantling order so far.
The dismantling of the cafes started on Wednesday, four weeks after the Yerevan Municipality formally notified the cafe owners to vacate the premises, since the city is halting its lease contracts.
But the protest actions attempted to block the dismantling works, followed by clashes between police officers and protesters, due to which some suffered minor injuries.
