Handicapped serviceman starts a career of sports commentator
The long-cherished dream of Davit Sargsyan, a handicapped serviceman receiving treatment at the Homeland Defender's Rehabilitation Center, comes true today as he will make his debut as a football commentator of the Armenian Premier League match between Shirak FC and Kapan Gandzasar.
The news was shared by the advisor of the President of Armenian Football Federation Zohrab Yeganyan. “Davit will give a commentary of one of the Armenia Premier League matches. I am confident he will succeed and an excellent career pathway is ahead of him to one day give comment the national team matches,” Yeganyan wrote.
Meanwhile, Rector at Armenian Medical University Armen Muradyan shared a Facebook post, saying Davit has long dreamed of becoming a football commentator. As Panorama.am was told at the Medical University Davit had attended training courses ahead of the debut.
Davit studies at the Faculty of History at Yerevan State University. During his treatment at the Rehabilitation Centre he studied foreign languages. He earlier worked at the 911 Rescue Service at the ministry of emergency situations.
To remind, the President of the Armenian Football Federation Arthur Vanetsyan earlier visited the Rehabilitation center and said the federation was ready to employ the servicemen who receive treatment at the Homeland Defender's Rehabilitation Center.
Earlier on the Armenian Army Day celebrated on 28 January, President Armen Sarkissian called on public and private sector representatives to employ people with disabilities acquired during military service. He stressed the necessity of bringing the servicemen back to a dignified life after treatment. According to the president, after restoring health they should be offered employment through special arrangements so that servicemen are not dependent on different types of assistance but are able to earn their living.
In summer 2018, one of Armenian veteran serviceman’s Gor Darmanyan wounded in 2015 while thwarting an Azerbaijani sabotage infiltration attempt in Artsakh landed a job at the Armenian presidential office.
