Armenia’s State Oversight Service head violated ethics rule, commission says
Head of the State Oversight Service Davit Sanasaryan has violated the ethics rule envisaged in the law on Public Service, according to a decision published by the Commission on Ethics of High-Ranking Officials.
The decision says that Sanasaryan has not promoted trust and respect toward the office he holds and the body he represents. He can appeal the decision within a month.
On February 26 the Ethics Commission launched proceedings against the State Oversight Service head on apparent ethical violation based on the application of Yerevan State University Rector Aram Simonyan.
Sanasaryan applied to the Ethics Commission to drop the proceedings.
Simonyan mentioned in his application that Sanasaryan announced about the revealed financial abuses in the YSU before the results of the audit were summed up in a manner prescribed by law.
He said Sanasaryan’s statements made in January were aimed at exerting pressure on law enforcement agencies.
