Armenia’s economic activity up 6.5 % in Jan-Feb
The economic activity index (EAI) of Armenia grew by 6.5% in January-February 2019 from the same period last year, according to the latest figures released by Armenia’s National Statistical Service (NSS).
As the statistics show, the index at the same time stood at 7.6% in February from January of the ongoing year, Panorama.am reports.
The construction sector secured the utmost growth in the reporting period, with the construction volumes increasing by 29% from the same period last year and by 21.6% compared to the figures of January 2019. The service volumes (excluding the trade) rose by 17.5% in the reporting period, while the growth in the industry sector amounted for 1.9%
The trade turnover grew by 13.1% for the reporting period this year against the same period of 2018.
The consumer prices, according to the NSS statistics, also increased by 1.3% compared to January -February 2018. As for the external trade turnover, it dropped by 7.7% in January- February 2019 with exports decreasing by 11.6% and imports by 5.6%.
According to the statistics, the average monthly salary in Armenia rose by 4.9% in January-February 2019.
