Catholicos Aram I to pay four-day visit to Aleppo
His Holiness Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia is set to depart for Aleppo, Syria on Friday morning to perform the reconsecration of the recently rebuilt Forty Martyrs Cathedral.
Cilician Brothers and representative of the National Central Committee will accompany on his four-day visit, during which he will also have several meetings and visits, the Catholicosate of Cilicia said in a Facebook post.
The Armenian church was blown up by the Islamic State militants in April 2015. The restoration of the cathedral was financed by the Armenian community of Aleppo, with some 150,000 people said to have contributed to the repairs.
