Armenia to support victims of flash flooding in Iran
Armenia will send humanitarian assistance to Iran to support the victims of the flash floods that hit the country last week, Minister of Emergency Situations Feliks Tsolakyan told a Cabinet meeting on Friday, adding Armenia has reached an agreement with Iran’s Red Crescent Society to discuss the matter.
Tsolakyan reminded that on Thursday he held a meeting with Iran’s Ambassador in Armenia Seyyed Kazem Sajjad to express Armenia’s readiness to provide assistance to those affected by the flooding.
“It is organized through the Russian-Armenian Humanitarian Center which will also make a contribution,” he said, adding Armenia plans to dispatch technical equipment, vehicles and rescuers to Iran.
Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan attached great importance to helping the friendly country of Iran.
The flash flooding in the country has reportedly left at least 44 people dead and 47,000 others wounded. It has caused some $170 million in material damages.
