Armenian parliament session fails to start amid lack of quorum
The Armenian National Assembly failed to start its special session on Friday morning due to a lack of quorum.
Only 44 lawmakers out of 132 were registered at the opening hour. Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan announced the session will launch when the required number of MPs are signed in.
Under the National Assembly’s Rules of Procedure, 67 MPs are required to be present at a session to ensure a quorum.
The lawmakers are set to discuss in the second reading the bills proposing amendments and supplements to the laws on the parliament’s Rules of Procedure and the Constitutional Court.
A total of 117 MPs backed the draft laws in the first reading on Thursday.
