Armenia’s deputy health minister facing bribery charges arrested
Deputy Health Minister of Armenia Arsen Davtyan, charged with receiving large bribes from the director of a medical facility, has been placed under arrest, the press service of the National Security Service (NSS) told Panorama.am.
Due to large-scale intelligence operations, the security service revealed that Razmik Abrahamyan, Director of the Institute of Perinatology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, sought to gain the deputy minister’s patronage and to develop favorable working conditions with him.
The official was caught taking a bribe from the director at his office by security agents on March 30, the NSS said in a statement on April 1.
If found guilty, Davtyan will face a prison term of up to twelve years and could see his property seized.
Charged with giving bribes in large amounts, Abrahamyan has been banned from leaving the country.
