Azerbaijan should prepare its army for peace, says Armenian defense minister
The Azerbaijani authorities should prepare their military for peace, Armenian Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan told reporters on Sunday, commenting on the recent bellicose statements of Azerbaijan following his ‘new war – new territories’ remarks.
“We don’t want war; the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan should prepare their army for peace,” he said at the Yerablur Military Pantheon, where he joined the newly elected members and chairman of the Yerkrapah (Defender of the Land) Volunteer Union in a ceremony of paying tribute to Sparapet Vazgen Sargsyan and the fallen soldiers of the Artsakh Liberation War.
Azerbaijan ramped up its bellicose rhetoric following a statement of the Armenian defense minister in New York that the formula 'territories for peace' will no longer exist, reformulating it into ‘new war – new territories.’
