Armenian-Russian Humanitarian assistance convoy departs for Iran
The Armenian-Russian humanitarian aid convoy has departed for Iran from Yerevan on Monday, Armenia’s ministry of emergency situations reported. According to the source, the humanitarian cargo is handed over by the Russian-Armenian Humanitarian Response Center to the Iranian Red Crescent Society.
The convoy carries over 40 tents, 250 beds and 4000 bedspread. The final destination of the convoy is Tabriz city.
The ceremony of departure was attended by Armenian Minister of Emergency Situations Feliks Tsolakyan who noted that the natural disaster in Iran was unprecedented in its scale and the risk is of further damage remains high. On behalf of the Russian-Armenian Humanitarian Response Center, the minister expressed readiness to provide further assistance upon necessity.
“This aid is a symbolic sign of humanism,” the Ambassador of Iran to Armenia Seyyed Kazem Sajjad, in turn, noted.
To remind, more than 750 people have been affected by heavy rains and floods in 31 provinces of Iran. According to the latest data, at least 67 people have lost their lives. Over 25,000 houses, highways and bridges were damaged, while power supply was disrupted.
