The electricity generation at solar power plants grows by 2.8 times in January-February
A total of 1,186.7million kilowatt-hours of electricity were generated in Armenia in January-February 2019, down by 21% to compare with productions volumes of the same period in 2018, Armenia's National Statistical Service (NSS) reported.
According to the NSS figures, in 2017 the electricity generation at hydro power plants dropped by 51.3%, amounting to 343.2 million kilowatt-hours, while at thermal power plants – 7.6 thousand kilowatt-hours which is 36.7% dropped against the volumes of 2017.
Electricity production volumes at hydropower plants rose by 8.5%, totaling to 287.5 million kilowatt-hours. The electricity generation at solar power plants stood at 1.4 million kilowatt-hours, securing a growth of 2.8 times to compare with the previous year data.
In the indicated period, Armenia's Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) produced 553.7 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, securing a 4.1% rise over 2018.
