Yerevan Court to rule on ex-president Kocharyan’s appeal over arrest extension tomorrow
The Yerevan Criminal Court of Appeals will rule on the appeal case brought by ex-president Robert Kocharyan’s defense team against the ruling of a lower court to extend his arrest tomorrow. As one of the lawyers Hayk Alumyan told reporters, the court ruling will be issued at 12:30 pm on Thursday.
Alumyan also informed that during today’s hearing Robert Kocharyan had a speech. “He made a long and detailed speech, describing all developments, presenting the realities in the aftermath of the 2008 elections and the follow up developments,” Alumyan said.
To remind, the ex-president has been placed in custody since December 7, 2018, pending trial. He is charged with overthrowing Armenia’s constitutional order during the March 1-2, 2008 post-election events in Yerevan, but strongly denies any wrongdoing.
