Armenia represented at GovGames 2019 in Dubai for the first time
The Armenian team comprised of government employers was represented at the second edition of GovGames 2019 in Dubai, which are being held under the patronage and participation of Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.
As spokesperson at the ministry of sport and youth affairs Astghik Martirosyan wrote on her Facebook page, a total of 168 teams from UAE and foreign governments, including Armenia, participated in the event from April 3 to 6. The Armenian team comprised of representatives from ministries of foreign affairs, defense, emergency situations and sport and youth affairs.
The participating teams competed in three heats, facing nine obstacles. Each obstacle was divided into two stages, with each team receiving five points for every stage they completed. The Armenian team scored 80,12 points taking the seventh place in their group, failing to qualify for the final round. Among the invited foreign teams, however, our team took the second place, leaving ahead only the U.S.
The first initiative of its kind in the world, the GovGames aim to promote team spirit and collaboration among government employees.
