Armenian PM: Police actions shouldn’t generate hatred
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Tuesday paid a visit to the police headquarters in capital Yerevan to congratulate officers on the 101st anniversary of the Police of Armenia marked on 16 April.
“Exactly one year ago today we were together – but on the different sides of the barbed wire. And I consider this day significant in relations between the Armenian Police and Armenian citizens,” the PM said at a solemn ceremony marking the day of police officers.
According to him, the day marked new relations between police and citizens in a sense that the actions of the Armenian Police should not express or generate hatred.
“I think the biggest achievement in recent months can be considered that hatred, as a feature of relations, has completely come out of the relationship between the police and society, the authorities and society,” he stressed.
Armenia has been marking the Police Day since 16 April 2001 when the country adopted the law on police.
