
Armenian president congratulates Syria on Independence Day
President Armen Sarkissian of Armenia offered congratulations to his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad on the country’s Independence Day.
In his congratulatory message, President Sarkissian voiced confidence that the centuries-old Armenian-Syrian relations will continue to develop and deepen for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries, the presidential press service said.
“I hope that Syria will ultimately overcome the current crisis, and the Syrian people will enjoy lasting stability and progress,” reads the message.
On 17 April Syria marks the proclamation of full independence and the end of the French mandate of Syria in 1946.
