Armenia’s oversight service chief indicted in corruption probe denies any wrongdoing
Davit Sanasaryan, the head of Armenia’s State Oversight Service facing corruption charges, took to Facebook to strongly deny any wrongdoing.
“Now, there is a big army attempting to fish in troubled waters: advocates of the former authorities, who are trying to satisfy their mania of weakening the government by allegedly defending me.
“Anyways, under conditions of a torrent of information, stop for a moment and remember that the state interest is what matters,” he stressed.
“P.S. - Suspecting me in the killing of Kennedy would be more reasonable than linking me with any corrupt practice. I love you all!” Sanasaryan added.
Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS) brought corruption charges against Sanasaryan on Thursday as part of the criminal case launched on February 25, involving two senior officers of the Oversight Service suspected in misconduct.
The NSS said they colluded with a company sponsored by them in order to ensure its victory in a state procurement of equipment for three medical facilities.
The security service said that it has collected sufficient evidence to charge Sanasarian with an abuse of official power for personal interests.
