Mother worries about kids’ safety as their house faces collapse in Armenian village
The poverty in the villages of Armenia’s Shirk Province has no limits, Shirak Center NGO says, telling the story a family of four living in a half-dilapidated, unsafe house in a beautiful village.
In a video made by the organization, the mother shares her concerns and fears over the half-ruined house where she has been living with her husband and two boys aged 10 and 11 for ten years already.
“I don’t sleep at night. I worry about taking the kids out of the house should it collapse, I don't even think about myself,” the mother says, adding she is ready to move to any other dry and warm place where her family could be safe.
Shirak Center urges authorities and donors to deal with the issues of such families to prevent them from abandoning their villages. The organization stresses poverty can be easily tackled if targeted support is provided to villages instead of fundraising efforts for 'senseless issues'.
