Indicted ex-Armenian official detained in Russia – spokesperson
Russian law enforcement officers have detained Mihran Poghosyan, a former MP and chief of the Compulsory Enforcement Service prosecuted on corruption charges.
The ex-official was found in the Russian Republic of Karelia, spokesperson of the Special Investigation Service (SIS) Marina Ohanjanyan told Panorama.am.
Poghosyan’s extradition to Armenia is in progress, she said.
A Yerevan court on Monday allowed the SIS to arrest Poghosyan after he was charged with abusing his powers to enrich himself and companies linked to him.
The SIS claims the actions ascribed to the former official have caused some 44,199,463 drams in damages to the state.
