The growth of economic activity index and the downfall of external trade volumes
According to the data released by Armenia’s National Statistical Service (NSS), the economic activity index (EAI) of Armenia has increased by 6.5% in January-March 2019, to compare with the same period of the previous year. The index at the same time increased by 14.8% in March from February 2019.
According to the NSS, the utmost growth was registered in the construction sphere in the mentioned period. In particular, Armenia’s construction volumes grew by 10.8% in January-March 2019, which accounts for 47 billion 728.2 AMD.
Armenia’s industrial output grew by 2% more than 16.1% to compare with February and 2.2% with March data of the previous year.
The service volume (excluding the trade) rose by 17.3%, while the consumer prices, according to the NSS statistics, also increased by1.5% compared to January-March 2019. Compared to data of the previous year the gross agricultural output dropped by 0.2% in January-March 2019, while the electricity production volumes recorded 14% decrease.
The external trade turnover of Armenia dropped by 5% with the exports volumes decreasing by 8.6% and imports volumes – by 3.1%
According to the NSS data, during January-March 2019, the average monthly salary in Armenia grew by 4.3 % and the average annual wage by 5.9%. In the public sector, the average salary stood at 146,5 thousand AMD, showing a 4.4% increase. In the private sector, the average wage rose by 3%, totaling to 189 thousand AMD.
