‘Seems from fantasy genre, but is real’: Armenian PM presents details on over 50,000 new jobs
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to Facebook live on Friday to clarify his statements on the creation of over 50,000 new jobs in the country since last year’s velvet revolution.
“I have stated on numerous occasions that 50,000 jobs have come out of the shadow economy or have been created in Armenia after the revolution. When I unveiled these figures before the PACE, many public statements came to question the numbers. Those remarks continued even after the State Revenue Committee issued respective clarifications. So, I tasked to prepare a report on which sectors those jobs have been created or uncovered,” the PM said.
According to him the first hypothesis regarding the jobs is that they were in the black market and came out of the shadow economy after the revolution.
“Naturally, there are also new jobs … The most important thing is that 50,141 more jobs were registered in the Republic of Armenia in January 2019 against January 2018,” he stressed, presenting in detail the new jobs per sectors.
The PM stressed the figures cannot be unreal since they are based on the tax accounts of enterprises.
“This might seem to be from the fantasy genre, but that fantasy is a reality in Armenia today, and that’s great. I don’t link this success to the government, but to the growing consciousness of our businessmen and companies or proper attitude towards the situation.”
He also added new jobs will be created in the country soon.
