Household burglary rates increased by around 60% in Armenia last year against the previous year, Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan told lawmakers at the session of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs on Thursday, summing up the activities of his structure in 2018.
He also pointed to deteriorating results in traffic rule violations, which grew by around 30% in 2018 from a year before.
Meantime, the attorney general said last year Armenia saw the lowest murder rates in the past 30-40 years.
“Overall, 38 murder cases were recorded in the country,” he said.
Davtyan called for legislative amendments in an effort to prevent housebreaking and other crimes, adding tightened punishment for offences can give positive outcomes.
