Three candidates nominated for the judge position of the Constitutional Court
As of May 2 three candidates have been nominated for the judge post of the Constitutional Court of Armenia, assistant to the President of Armenia Hasmik Petrosyan told Pastinfo agency,
“As of now Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, Martin Manukyan and Armen Nersisyan have submitted applications,” Petrosyan said, reminding the deadline for the candidacy submission end on May 3.
To remind, on April 16 the Armenian National Assembly voted against the candidacy of Gor Hovhannisyan as judge of the Constitutional Court of Armenia. According to the results of the secret vote, 24 MPs voted in favor and 75 against.
To remind, Hovhannisyan’s candidacy had been nominated by President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian. This has been the second time the parliament fails to elect judge forthe vacant post. In October 2018, the National Assembly was unable to elect Vahe Grigoryan as judge due to insufficient number of votes.
