Azerbaijani military opens fire on Armenian bread truck in Artsakh
Azerbaijani troops have recently opened fire on a bread truck of one of the Artsakh military units, damaging the body of the vehicle.
In a statement released on Friday, the Artsakh Defense Ministry says Azerbaijani military has intensified its activities at various sections of the contact line in the recent period, carrying out large-scale engineering work and increasing the number of ceasefire violations.
Azerbaijani fire often targets not only the Artsakh Defense Army positions, but also the mobile rear positions of the on-duty Armenian units.
“In particular, most recently the Azerbaijani army has opened fire from SVD sniper rifles targeting a vehicle delivering bread for a military unit located at the eastern (Akna) direction of the Defense Army, damaging its body.
Overnight May 2-3, it fired around 330 shots from large-caliber sniper rifles, machine guns and firearms towards combat positions in the north-eastern (Mataghis) direction,” reads the statement.
The Artsakh Defense Ministry calls the attention of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries to the mentioned facts, meantime urging the Azerbaijani side to refrain from “short-sighted tactics that artificially escalate the situation.”
