Defense minister: When Azerbaijan opens fire, Armenia responds ‘very strictly’
When Azerbaijan opens fire in the direction of Armenia’s defense positions, the Armenian side responds ‘very strictly’, Defense Ministry Davit Tonoyan said at the Yerablur Military Pantheon on Wednesday, May 8, celebrated as the Homeland Defender’s Day in Armenia.
The defense chief described the situation on the Artsakh frontline as ‘relatively stable.”
“All the measures are in place so that no problems arise, but as I have already said once, when the adversary opens fire, we respond very strictly,” the minister said.
His comments come after Azerbaijani fire targeted a bread truck of one of the Artsakh military units last week, damaging the body of the vehicle as a result.
In a statement on May 3, the Armenian Defense Ministry said the Azerbaijani army has intensified its activities at various sections of the contact line in the recent period, carrying out large-scale engineering work and increasing the number of ceasefire violations.
