Armenian parliament passes cinema day bill in the first reading
The Armenian National Assembly adopted in the first reading a bill proposing to declare April 16 as Armenian Cinema Day in the country at its regular session on Friday.
A total of 67 MPs backed the bill drafted by opposition Bright Armenia (BHK) faction lawmakers Naria Zohrabyan and Vahe Enfiajyan, with 10 votes cast against it and 21 abstentions.
In a separate vote, lawmakers unanimously passed in the first reading the government-drafted bills on amending Armenia’s Tax Code and Criminal Code.
The proposed amendments and supplements to the Water Code, the draft law on the waiver of penalties for several administrative offences and state duties, as well as the bill on the state property privatization program for 2017-2020 also passed the first parliamentary reading.
