Pashinyan calls on protesters to stop blockade of courts
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia has urged demonstrators to open the entrances to court buildings across Armenia blocked since Monday morning.
The Armenian leader called supporters to rally outside all courts in the country on Sunday night, following former President Robert Kocharyan’s release from custody.
“Today’s campaign served its purpose as the process of creating an independent judiciary in Armenia has started and is no longer reversible,” he said on Facebook.
In a live address on Monday, Pashinyan stressed having independent and unbiased judiciary is of vital importance, adding the lack of it is the biggest challenge facing the country.
