Lawyer says filed crime report over judge’s decision to suspend Kocharyan’s trial
Lawyer Alexander Sirunyan says he has filed a crime report to the Prosecutor General’s Office, Special Investigative Service and National Security Service over what he called an ‘illegal’ and ‘unconstitutional’ decision made by judge Davit Grigoryan in former President Robert Kocharyan’s case on 20 May.
Grigoryan suspended Kocharyan’s trial citing a ‘suspicion of discrepancy’ between the Armenian Constitution and the charges brought against the ex-president two days after ordering his release from custody and forwarded the case to the Constitutional Court for review.
The lawyer described the ruling as ‘apparently illegal and unfair’. “The judicial act is entirely based on Davit Grigoryan’s personal motives,” Sirunyan said on Facebook, also hinting the judge made such a decision in exchange for money.
As Pastinfo reported earlier, judge Davit Grigoryan in turn has reported a crime to the Prosecutor General’s Office, demanding law-enforcement authorities to launch proceedings into false crime reporting or bribery allegations against him.
In response, the lawyer has published his application submitted to Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan on Facebook, asking him to launch a criminal case based on the judge’s report.
The Prosecutor’s Office told Panorama.am it has received only Davit Grigoryan’s report so far, while Alexander Sirunyan’s appeals have not reached the office yet.
