Tigran Abrahamyan: Azerbaijan threatens with a new wave of escalation
“I consider the recent statement of the Azerbaijani foreign minister dangerous as not only it contain elements of blackmailing but also serves a message announcing a new wave of escalation,” Togran, Abrahamyan, Advisor to Artsakh Republic President, told Panorama.am, speaking of Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov’s recent interview to Russian Komersant newspaper.
To note, Mammadyarov had said that the time to the Armenian new leadership for getting familiarized with details of the NK negotiations process has ended.
“We gave a time to the new Armenian leadership to get acquainted with details of negotiation process. This transition period is over and negotiations are restored in the level of both leaders of countries and the foreign office heads,” Mammadyarov had said.
In Abrahamyan’s words, Azerbaijan has been trying to position itself as a constructive side over the past year. The relative decrease of the ceasefire violation cases were presented as a sign of a political will to solve the mater in a peaceful way. However, the parallel processes come to speak about the opposite.
“In reality, Azerbaijan is intensively preparing for the military option as testified by continuous augmentation of the Armed Forces and engineering works across the Line of Contact,” Abrahamyan added.
