His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, has issued a congratulatory message on the Republic Day celebrated on 28 May. The holiday marks the establishment of the First Armenian Republic in 1918.

“From the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, we are extending our blessings and congratulations to our people on the occasion of the Republic Day.

The declaration of the First Republic of Armenia became a reality in the May heroic battles through the courage of our fathers. Their glorious victory became the basis of the re-establishment of our independent statehood, which was a century-old dream for our people.

The heroic deeds of the Armenians who have struggled for our homeland, our identity and statehood, the testimony of love and faithfulness towards the nation and our sanctuaries is a message to each of us to be a worthy and devoted child of our nation and homeland.

Dear faithful, today with the same spirit and unity, we must be able to maintain our independent statehood, our achievements in Armenia and Artsakh, and with the optimism of tomorrow, to continue building a developing country and a bright future.

We pray that God keep our statehood and Homeland strong under His Holy Right Hand, supporting the Armenian nation dispersed throughout the world and granting success to all our efforts for the love of the Homeland.
