Pashinyan holds phone conversation with Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan held today a phone conversation with playmaker of Arsenal FC, captain of the Armenian national team Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
“On my way back from Astana I talked with Henrikh Mkhitaryan over the phone and expressed support ahead of today’s Arsenal-Chelsea match Mkhitaryan is unable to participate due to racist approach of Baku,” Pashinyan wrote on his Facebook page.
The PM added that all admire and are proud of him and wholeheartedly stand by the player.
To note, Mkhitaryan has not travelled with the Arsenal squad to Baku and will play no part in the final match of Europa League amid concerns over his safety. UEFA have faced heavy criticism for their decision to host the Europa League final in Azerbaijan, and they have also been slammed after it emerged they had blocked Arsenal’s plans to show support to Mkhitaryan in the build-up of the game.
