Armenian security chief comments on deputy’s dismissal
Director of Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS) Artur Vanesyan says his deputy Arzuman Harutyunyan’s resignation is linked with his long-term service in the structure.
“Mr. Harutyunyan has served in the National Security Service for around 35 years and he applied me in person to be relieved of his duties following a long-term service,” Vanesyan told reporters on Thursday when asked to comment on the reasons behind the deputy’s dismissal.
As reported earlier, Arzuman Harutyunyan was dismissed as Deputy Director of the NSS on 24 May, hours after his brother Gagik Harutyunyan stepped down as Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council.
