Armenia sends another group of mine-clearing experts, doctors to Syria
Another group of Armenian humanitarian experts was dispatched to Syria on a Russia-backed mission on Tuesday to provide support to the Syrian people.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Defense Ministry said the team includes de-mining experts, medical personnel and security officers. They will carry out humanitarian mine clearance operations, raise mine awareness among the population and provide medical help to residents of Aleppo exclusively outside the zone of military operations.
The Armenian experts have been transported to Syria with support of the Russian side.
Armenia deployed the first team of experts to Syria in February 2019. According to the Armenian Center for Humanitarian Demining and Expertise, Armenian de-miners cleared an area of 33,400 square meters as of May 30.
Armenian doctors performed 394 surgeries, provided therapeutic aid to 801 patients and conducted 1,354 clinical and laboratory examinations.
