Court of Appeals to start hearing on ex-president Kocharyan case on June 12
The Yerevan Criminal Court of Appeals under presiding judge Armen Danielyan will start the hearing on the appeal of the prosecutors over the first instance court ruling about Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan and three other former officials.
The Court will hear the appeal by the Prosecutor’s Office and the representatives of the legal successors of the victims brought after the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction ruled to free ex-President Kocharyan from custody and later suspend the proceedings forwarding it to the Constitutional Court to determine the constitutionality of the case.
Justifying his decision, Judge Davit Grigoryan cited a “suspicion of discrepancy” between the Armenian Constitution and the charges brought against the ex-president.
