Norway Chess: Armenia’s Aronian shares 2-3 places
Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian defeated Viswanathan Anand of India in the final ninth round of the 2019 Altibox Norway Chess tournament played on Friday.
The Armenian chess star has scored a total of 10.5 points and shares 2-3 places with China’s Yu Yangyi.
Current world champion Magnus Carlsen won the tournament with 13.5 points, the Armenian National Olympic Committee reported.
Fabiano Caruana (U.S.), Ding Liren (China), Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (France), Alexander Grischuk (Russia), Wesley So (U.S.) and Shakriyar Mamedyarov (Azerbaijan) were among the 10 players taking part in 2019 Norway Chess.
