Armenian pianist Hripsime Aghakaryan wins Khachaturian Int'l Competition
Hripsime Aghakaryan, a pianist representing Armenia, became the winner of the 15th Khachaturian International Competition held in Yerevan on 6-14 June.
Oxana Shevchenko from Kazakhstan won the second prize, while Miao Gao from China won the third prize of the competition.
Vag Papian, the jury chairman, announced the winners at the closing gala concert of the Khachaturian International Competition held at Yerevan’s Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall on Friday, in attendance of Armenian President Armen Sarkissian and his spouse Nouneh Sarkissian.
Also, the contestants received additional awards. Hripsime Aghakaryan received the Audience Award as well.
A total of 30 pianists from 12 countries took part in the 15th Khachaturian International Competition.
The competition was held under the high auspices of Nouneh Sarkissian and thanks to the joint efforts of the Armenian Ministry of Culture, Aram Khachaturian-Competition Cultural Foundation and the Intergovernmental Foundation for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation of the CIS (IFESCCO).
