Activists of Civil Consciousness NGO and AntiFake.am fact checking initiative are holding a protest at Baghramyan 26, in front of the Presidential Palace. The participants marched through Baghramyan avenue to the President’s Office where the head of Civil Consciousness NGO Narek Samsonyan explained the aim of the protest.

In Samsonyan’s words, the aim of their action is to inform citizens that the President of Armenia Armen Sarkisian fails to uphold the Constitution of the country. 

“He does not follow the Constitution, thus Armenia Sarkissian is a  ‘incompetent’ and ‘fake president’. The protesters claimed that the president serves the Prime Minister instead of the Constitution. “Armen Sarkissian is the fake of Nikol Pahsinyan,” Samsonyan declared.

The protest came after President Armen Sarkissian nominated days ago longtime opposition lawyer Vahe Grigoryan for the vacant seat of the Constitutional Court for the second time. Some analysts and politicians believe the president’s decision came under pressure from the ruling party at parliament that earlier rejected all previous nominations by president.
