Driver of a bus travelling to Armenia arrested in Georgia
Officers of the Georgian police and the State Revenue arrested on Tuesday an Armenian citizen identified as A. K. born in 1977 at Kazbek checkpoint. As Georgia online news outlet reports, the arrested citizen who tuned out to be the driver of the bus is suspected with smuggling of drugs and face 6-7 years of imprisonment if found guilty.
As the report says, on June 25 the officers of state revenue committee stopped a bus that was travelling to Armenia. During the search, 500 grams of drugs, reportedly heroin, was revealed inside the bus. An investigation is underway to look into the details of the incident.
The representatives of the Armenia’s Embassy to Georgia were at the scene. The bus with passengers traveling from Russia has successfully arrived in Armenia, the source said.
