Minsk 2019: Armenian boxer says was eager to defeat Turkish opponent in 1/8 finals
Armenian boxer Gurgen Hovhannisyan says he was eager to succeed in the European Games 2019 underway in Minsk, Belarus as he shared his impressions from the hard-earned 3-2 victory over Ilyas Muchahit of Turkey in the 1/8 finals.
“It was a very tough bout, especially because my opponent was a Turk. Both the tensions and the desire to win were great. One more victory and I will secure at least a bronze medal. I’ll do my best to win the next bout on June 26,” the Armenian boxer told the National Olympic Committee’s press service.
Gurgen Hovhannisyan had started performing from the 1/16 finals where he had claimed a 3-2 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Veletik Dusan.
In the quarterfinals the Armenian boxer will fight against Germany’s Nelvi Tiafack.
