FM: Malta ready to support EU-Armenia visa liberalization dialogue
Malta is ready to support the launch of visa liberalization dialogue between Armenia and the European Union, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion of Malta Carmelo Abela said at a joint news conference with Armenian FM Zohrab Mnatsakanyan in Yerevan on Thursday.
He reminded the issue has recently been discussed during the meeting of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini and Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan.
“For the EU-visa liberalization, a number of factors should be taken into account: the readmission agreements, the number of asylum seekers and several other issues, that need to be discussed,” he said.
Meantime, the top Maltese official said political processes within the EU also play an important role in the visa liberalization process.
“We stand ready to support the launch of negotiations, of course, given the mentioned circumstances,” he said.
