Systema Corporation co-owner says ex-president Kocharyan’s case is politically motivated
The co-owner of the Russian Sistema corporation Vladimir Yevtushenkov believes the court proceedings against Armenian second president Robert Kocharyan is of political nature which is the reason the corporation decided to keep Kocharyan post as member of the company’s Board of Directors.
Yevtushenkov’s comments came in an interview with Ria Novosty news agency. Kocharyan, currently held in custody charged with overthrowing the constitutional order of Armenia during the March 1-2 event in 2008, serves as member of the Board of Directors, Chairman of the Nomination, Remuneration and Governance Committee at the Russian financial corporation.
“As you may know former president of Armenia has served as member of the Board of Directors for long years. As you know he is currently under arrest. We believe the process is apparently politically motivated,” Yevtushenkov said, adding the former president will continue serving his post for which he had given his consent.
